We are a grass roots road racing series. I got more into road cycling after moving to the area in 2021 and riding with the Limestone Cycling League. I’ve always enjoyed racing and competitive events. I quickly realized there were no true road races in Kentucky and few within our general region of the US, so I decided to create the series bringing road racing back to Kentucky

The most appropriate answer is NO. We ask that all cyclists follow the rules of the road as if you were on a normal group ride. We do have volunteers at troublesome intersections to help manage traffic and the course is marked with signage, but all riders are expected to check in all directions and to be sure it is clear and safe to turn or travel through intersections. We have had cars ignore our volunteers and drive around them. Before asking, no, we do not have police presence at all intersections. Our races often bring in more racers than the community has population so it’s self explanatory that the local police force does not have the capacity to staff their normal operations and assist with our events. We do have the finish line closed to traffic for riders to sprint finish. 

All of our races are now USA Cycling sanctioned. There are a variety of categories based on licensed categories and ages. If you do not have a USAC License the Novice/4/5 and age group categories are open to race with a one day license that can be purchased online during registration. All racers are required to at least purchase a one day license through USAC. 

Yes, there is always a food vendor

Note: the races themselves do not always have aid/feed stations on course. Riders are expected to carry their own fuel and hydration. We do notify the best places for teams to do feed stations if they wish. Some events will have neutral bottle hand ups and we provide bottles with water only. The feedzones change race to race. Please check the race registration page for specific details or message us. Racers are responsible for providing their own support for feeds. There will always be neutral mechanical support and sag pickup in some form. 

This is complicated, but it comes down to support from the city and county government to allow it to happen. There is also the costs of my travel and time away from work. I am open to trying new things and talking to any city/county official.
